Personal Training with

CJ Performance Healthcare

Virtual Personal training (AKA online personal training) has been growing in popularity over the past couple of years as people realise that they can reach their health and fitness goals without having to have 1-2-1 in-person personal training. This gives people the opportunity and flexibility to train when and how they want without relying on somebody else's availability.

CJ Performance Healthcare a specialist in coaching people to live longer and healthier lives, free from the limitations of pain, preventable disease, and immobility. We do this by optimising your health by losing weight, increasing muscle mass, and focusing on your improved health indicators.

There are plenty of personal trainers and coaches around, in-person and online, so you are spoilt for choice with the one that you feel is best suited for you.

However, one thing most people can agree on, is that there isn’t an abundance of good-quality personal trainers and coaches for those wanting to get fit, improve their longevity, and increase their quality of life.

There may be many reasons for this, and you may be left with a bunch of questions such as:

  • Who should I see, and how do I know if they’re any good?

  • What can I expect when working with a personal trainer?

  • How much will it cost me to hire a personal trainer?

  • How will I have the time to complete everything they want me to do?

This can often leave you puzzled and anxious about making the right choice. Don’t fret though, as we’ve broken these answers down in this page to ensure you make the right choice for you.

With all that said, Let’s dive right in…

Who should I see, and how do I know if they’re any good?

This is probably the hardest thing to decide as there are many different types of coaches out there.

  • General personal trainers

  • Fat loss personal trainers

  • Strength and conditioning coaches

  • Fitness instructors

  • Body builder type personal trainers.

Some of these are similar, and some have varying levels of experience and qualification

For example, you could find yourself talking to a coach who is somebody who likes the gym, and completed a weekend course to enable them to coach people. On the other hand you could have coaches with decades of experience, degree holders in a relevant subject, and proven track record of helping people. Now, one isn’t necessarily better than the other, some extremely knowledgable coaches haven’t got degrees or other further qualifications, but the trick lies in being able to find out who is worth paying your hard earned money to.

Knowing who to see can be confusing; however, there are several things you should look out for:

  • Have they got the qualifications to be able to help you?

  • Do they have a lot of reviews for people in positions similar to yours with a clear track record of helping people?

  • Does their website promote honesty and give you information to make an informed decision?

  • Do they have an online presence, such as social media, that you can check to see if you agree with their philosophy?

  • Do they specialise in a particular aspect of personal training that is relevant to you?

  • Do they openly discuss how they help people like you, or do they keep many things private and leave you looking for information everywhere?

  • Do they only do 1-2-1 service in person or can they help me in a way that suits my lifestyle best?

How much will it cost me to reach my goals?

As mentioned above, there are many different types of trainers that you could see to help you, all with varying costs, standards, methods, contact time, and extra help and care.

Choosing a coach will impact the above and your future physical and mental health.

At CJ Performance Healthcare, you can expect to spend anywhere from £150-£3000, depending entirely on your goal and the length of time it will take to help you achieve it. £3000 would equal approximately 12 months of 1-2-1 coaching. Most clients are with us for anywhere between 3 and 6 months. Due to how we work, we don’t do ‘pay per session’ for personal training, and other factors would dictate your price. We work with you to devise a plan you feel paying for whilst ensuring you make the progress we expect. All our programmes are backed by our ‘No Improvement Guarantee’.

On the low end, there are basic services that provide the same service for most people and can be largely ineffective. These are usually the services that will cost about £25-£35 per session for gym work but leave you plateauing and not having much direction.

Which should I go for?

We recommend you do your research before deciding on who to go with.

For example, CJ Performance Healthcare offers a complimentary personal training consultation and a fantastic 6-week challenge to get you started. During this time, you can speak to a coach who can answer all of your questions and help you better understand how we work and how we have helped people like you.

If you are looking for help right now, ask yourself the following:

  • How long has this been affecting me for now?

  • Am I willing to keep trying fad diets?

  • What does the end goal look like for me?

  • What do I want to get out of the programme (think past ‘be thinner’)

  • What does my week look like, and what do I feel I have the time to commit to?

If you're able to answer these questions, it will help you better understand what may be best for you and where you should go.
