Events
There are plenty of restaurants and activities to do in the city, so there are plenty of things to do with your time.
However, one thing Liverpool doesn’t have in abundance is good-quality injury rehabilitation experts for locals to use to get them back to performing the activities that they love most.
There may be many reasons for this, and you may be left with a bunch of questions such as:
Who should I see, and how do I know if they’re any good?
What can I expect when going to this clinic?
How much did it cost me to get better?
How will I be expected to attend sessions, and what will they consist of?
This can often leave you puzzled and anxious about making the right choice. Don’t fret though, as we’ve broken these answers down in this page to ensure you make the right choice for you.

With all that said, Let’s dive right in…
Who should I see, and how do I know if they’re any good?
Many types of practitioners help with pain and injuries in Liverpool.
Sports Therapists and Sports Rehabilitators
Physiotherapists
Sports Massage Therapists
Osteopaths
Chiropractors
Some of these are similar, and some have very different treatment modalities.
For example, chiropractors in Liverpool tend to focus on back and neck problems by using high-velocity thrusts (i.e., cracking joints) to elicit pain reduction. Sports Therapists and Sports Rehabilitators are essentially the same, focusing on a combined active and passive treatment approach, i.e. hands-on treatments and exercise interventions. Some would say this is similar to Physiotherapy. However, sports therapists specialise in musculoskeletal (MSK) sports injuries and pathology, whereas physiotherapists cover broader issues, such as cardiac, neurological, MSK, and vestibular rehabilitation.
Knowing who to see can be confusing; however, there are several things you should look out for:
Are they part of a governing body, for example, The Society of Sports Therapists, which requires University level education to be a part of and keeps its members to account for the continued professional development
Do they have a lot of reviews for people in positions similar to yours with a clear track record of helping people?
Does their website promote honesty and give you information to make an informed decision?
Do they have an online presence, such as social media, that you can check to see if you agree with their philosophy?
If you are going through insurance, do they take your insurance?
Do they openly discuss how they help people like you, or do they keep many things private and leave you looking for information everywhere?
Are they close to me, or is it easy to reach them by private or public transport?
How much will it cost me to get better?
As mentioned above, there are many different types of practitioners that you could see for your problem, all with varying costs, standards, treatment methods, contact time, and extra help and care.
Choosing a practitioner will impact the above and your future physical and mental health. Your "future physical and mental health” will include checkups and treatments; these costs vary significantly depending on your chosen choice.
At CJ Performance Healthcare, you can expect to spend anywhere from £70 to £4000, depending entirely on your problem and the length of time it will take to help you. £4000 would equal approximately 12-14 months of rehabilitation with a high frequency of sessions. Most clients are with us for anywhere between 2 and 6 months. Due to how we work, we don’t do ‘pay per session’ for injury rehabilitation, and other factors would dictate the price you pay. We work with you to devise a plan you feel happy paying for whilst ensuring you make the progress we expect. All our rehab programmes are backed by our ‘No Improvement Guarantee’.
Some don’t need rehabilitation programmes; they are advised after their initial assessment and report back their improvements. Not every problem requires a long rehabilitation programme. Our practitioners are honest and open with you about your condition and will recommend what they believe best.
On the low end, there are pretty basic services that provide the same treatments for most people and can be largely ineffective. These are usually the services that will cost about £25-£35 per session and may give temporary relief, but leave you needing repeat sessions and making you reliant on the treatment rather than looking for permanent solutions.
Our prices are consistent whether they are in the clinic or virtual.
Which should I go for?
We recommend you do your research before deciding on who to go with.
For example, CJ Performance Healthcare offers a complimentary care call or visit. During this time, you can speak to a clinician who can answer all of your questions and help you better understand how we work and how we have helped people like you.
If you are looking for help right now, ask yourself the following:
How long has this been affecting me for now?
Am I willing to keep ‘seeing how it goes’
What does the end goal look like for me?
What do I want to get out of the treatments (think beyond “be pain-free”)
What does my week look like, and what do I feel I have the time to commit to?
Answering these questions will help you better understand what may be best for you and where you should go.
